Welcome, I’m Ian Mackay! I’ve been a certified dog training and behaviourist expert for some years now. One of my specialities is helping out reactive and even aggressive dogs. I’m based near Alton, Hampshire, in the UK.

The methods I use are all about something we like to call ‘dog listening’. Basically, it’s about understanding that there’s a reason behind every little thing a dog does. And once we understand that reason, we can find ways to manage their behaviour.

Reactivity can come in all shapes and sizes. It could be something as simple as your dog going into a barking frenzy when the doorbell rings. Or it could be something more serious, like your pup launching into an unprovoked attack at the sight of a certain dog or breed.

On top of reactivity, dogs can have all sorts of other behavioural issues. Pulling on the leash, separation anxiety, and even chewing up your furniture are common problems. Excessive barking is also a form of reactivity that can make life with your furry friend quite challenging.

And then there’s the constant worry about what state your home will be in when you get back. You’re never quite sure if your dog will suddenly go out of control. Plus, it’s never fun when other dog owners and non-owners give you that judgmental look like you never properly trained your pooch. It’s like being labelled the bad guy on the local playing fields.
